Founded in 1975 by Cy and Manalynn Cooper, Cy Cooper Company began its journey as a humble service plumbing business. With unwavering dedication and the invaluable guidance of Manual C. and Thelma Hastings, the company embarked on a path of remarkable growth and evolution. Over two decades, it transformed into a comprehensive turnkey mechanical contractor, employing a skilled team of plumbers, mechanical pipe fitters, and HVAC technicians. This expansion was bolstered by the establishment of an HVAC Fabrication shop, further solidifying the company's position in the industry.

However, one area remained outside its direct purview—fire sprinklers, which were entirely subcontracted. The geographic isolation of Farmington, NM, presented unique challenges, particularly in terms of fire protection service providers' ability to return for warranty and service work. This obstacle became a turning point for Cy Cooper, igniting a fervent passion for life safety and steering the company towards specializing in fire sprinkler contracting.

This pivotal shift was only the beginning of Cy Cooper Company's journey into the realm of fire protection. Embracing the natural progression of their growing expertise, the company expanded its services to include clean agents and kitchen hood systems, marking its evolution into a more diversified entity.

in 2001, the company witnessed another milestone with the addition of Ireke Cooper, Cy and Manalynn's son, to the team. Armed with a degree in Mechanical Engineering and several years of experience working as a General Contractor and in the Mining Industry, Ireke brought a wealth of knowledge and a fresh perspective to the family business. His involvement marked a significant phase of continuity and innovation, as he continued the family tradition while further expanding the company's product lines and services. This period set the stage for new heights of success and growth. In 2012, Cy and Manalynn entrusted the company into the capable hands of Ireke and his wife Shantel, selling them the business. Under their leadership, the company not only sustained its foundational values but also embraced a vision that propelled it to the next level. Recognizing the evolving landscape of fire protection and the need for a specialized focus, in 2013, the company underwent a transformation, rebranding to Cooper Fire Protection Services Inc. This strategic move underscored their commitment to excellence in the fire protection domain, setting a new course for the future.

Continuing the Cooper momentum into 2023, Tanner Cooper has stepped into a pivotal leadership role within the team. As a mechanical engineer, the grandson of Cy and Manalynn, and Ireke and Shantel’s nephew, Tanner embodies the fusion of tradition and innovation that has always been at the heart of the company. With a decade worth of experience in corporate manufacturing, Tanner brings a fresh perspective and a new wave of innovation to the organization.
